Fondazione Gianni Benzi took part in the 20th edition of the Annual Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Conference (ASCAT), which took place in London from 1 to 4 October 2025.
This major international event, organised in collaboration with the European Hematology Association and the British Society of Haematology, is a key platform for global scientific exchange on haemoglobinopathies. This year’s edition, “Haemoglobinopathies in Focus: Global Advances, Local Disparities”, focused on the latest progress in the diagnosis and treatment of sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, with particular attention to the challenges of ensuring equitable access to care.
Fondazione Gianni Benzi, strongly committed to biomedical research on rare diseases, presented its contributions within the framework of the European projects HELIOS, ARISE, HEMAFAIR and INHERENT, aimed at improving knowledge and developing innovative therapies for patients affected by rare blood disorders.
Participation in ASCAT 2025 reaffirmed the Foundation’s active role within the international scientific community and its commitment to promoting innovation, collaboration, and progress in the care of haemoglobinopathies.
