HemaFAIR: kick-off meeting

Jul 25, 2024

The Foundation announces the launch of a new 36-month project called HemaFAIR, funded under the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Twinning Bottom-Up programme (project No. 101159589). HemaFAIR, led by The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, is conducted in collaboration with Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Spain), Amsterdam University Medical Center and Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands).
Bringing together internationally-recognised experts in rare haematological diseases (RHDs), biomedical informatics, ethical and regulatory issues and patient-centred research, the project aims to raise the scientific profile and competitiveness of the project coordinator in the fields of biomedical informatics and rare haematological diseases (RHDs), with a focus on the use of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and standards in research and education.
HemaFAIR will develop and implement a comprehensive training programme and numerous capacity building and strategic networking activities, including summer schools, workshops, webinars and lectures on transferable skills. HemaFAIR activities will be specifically aimed at raising the profile of early career researchers through the development of a mentoring programme, short-term staff exchanges and collaborative research projects.
The HemaFAIR project started with the kick-off meeting held in Cyprus on 11-12 July 2024. During the meeting, partners reviewed project’s objectives, milestones and planned activities through presentations and discussion sessions. Read the press release.
