This year the Rare Disease Day was held on 29th February 2020, the rarest day of the year dedicated to raising awareness on rare diseases that affect more than 300 million people worldwide.

The rare disease community and its supporters, also including Fondazione Gianni Benzi came together to share the message: Rare is many worldwide. Rare is strong every day. Rare is proud everywhere!

Thousands of events such as family fun days, sporting events, fundraisers, scientific conferences, art exhibitions, policy events and much more took place across the world in over 100 countries!

Fondazione Gianni Benzi contributed to the initiative through a social campaign on rare diseases supporting a more equitable access to diagnosis, treatment, care and social opportunity.

Among these initiatives, the EJP RD, of which Fondazione Gianni Benzi is partner, in occasion of the international Rare Disease Day released its own first video! The video celebrates the relevance of the work done by the EJP RD consortium and represents the EJP RD programme and all the important elements that EJP is creating! The contribution of all EJP RD partners has been vital to the process of the development of rare disease ecosystem for the benefit of patients!
