PedCRIN launched a webinar series to share some of the most interesting outcomes of the project. The series was concluded with the PedCRIN Final Meeting, which was held on June 16, 2021.
The webinars offered an opportunity to discover more about the tools that had been developed through PedCRIN for the setup and management of paediatric and neonatal clinical trials.
Fondazione Gianni Benzi was involved in the development and adaptation of these tools, which were aimed at speeding up and facilitating the execution of clinical trials for neonates, children, and young people.
Managing paediatric clinical trials had been a challenging endeavour due to the intrinsic characteristics of the paediatric population, including the limited number of eligible patients, the differences in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics between children and adults and also among children of different ages, as well as the need for implementing ad hoc study procedures and addressing ethical considerations.
The first webinar was held on April 7, 2021, at 1:00 PM CEST and was dedicated to the tools for managing paediatric trials. The speakers were Viviana Giannuzzi from Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi Onlus and Cristina Manfredi from Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche.
