Fondazione Benzi at the EPTRI Scientific Meeting 2025

The EPTRI General Assembly and Scientific Meeting took place in Bologna from 13 to 15 March 2025. Fondazione Gianni Benzi actively participated. Fedele Bonifazi, Viviana Giannuzzi and Franco Bartoloni contributed with key scientific presentations.

Fedele Bonifazi spoke on “EPTRI Centralised Services and the OrphaDev4Kids project”. He presented EPTRI’s centralised services with a focus on those directly provided by Fondazione Gianni Benzi: ethics and regulatory support, HTA, and Access to Funding opportunities. He showed as use case the Matching Service in OrphaDev4Kids, aimed to link researchers and companies with project ideas on the development of paediatric orphan medical device, providing also support to scouting funding opportunities.

Viviana Giannuzzi presented “Challenges and opportunities for paediatric research from the new proposed EU rules”. She analysed new EU regulations for paediatric research. Her talk covered unmet medical needs, drug repurposing, and Paediatric Investigation Plans (PIPs). She highlighted opportunities for non-profit organisations and researchers.

Franco Bartoloni presented “OrphaDev4Kids – Orphan Device for Paediatric Patients: a Unique Platform Providing Innovative Services”. He introduced the EU-funded project OrphaDev4 Kids, a platform providing Ethics and Regulatory support and Matchmaking services to researchers, industries, and institutions with the aim of helping the development of orphan medical devices for children with rare diseases.

Fondazione Gianni Benzi reaffirmed its role in paediatric research at the EPTRI Scientific Meeting 2025. Its work supports better therapies for young patients.
