In collaboration with the partners of the ARISE project that the Foundation coordinates, the webinar “COVID-19 and Sickle Cell Disease: the current scenario” has been organised. The first session of the webinar will be held on Tuesday 19th May, 2020 at 04:00 PM (UK time).
The EPTRI Open meeting was held on 2-3 April 2020. It was attended by more than 150 participants and was the occasion to present the project challenges and achievements reached so far. The meeting gave an interesting overview on the next steps and the scientific topics, specifically addressed to the paediatric population health.
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is among the world’s most common serious inherited diseases with more than 300,000 annual births, particularly most of them are born in sub-Saharan Africa. The outcome of SCD in low-middle income countries is grim: less than 50% of affected births will survive beyond the 10th birthday.
Fondazione Gianni Benzi Onlus and Janssen Pharmaceutical NV are working to design and integrate IT systems and tools meant to achieve this goal, and a kick-off meeting to start the development of the c4c Information System (IS) will be held on 17 – 18 December 2019 in Bari, Italy.
The field of rare disease is one of the main areas of interest of the Fondazione Gianni Benzi. The Foundation is member of the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD) that aims to improve the research on Rare Diseases.
The EJP RD is looking for an Ethics Advisor in charge to verify the application of EU ethical/legal/regulatory framework within the project, as well as the projects that will be financed within and by the EJP RD. A dedicated work package with 15 deliverables was created.
