Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi ETS, as partner of the European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA), is co-organising the new ERDERA Ethics & Regulatory Webinar Series with the ERDERA training Work Stream . The series will examine ethical and regulatory questions in rare disease research, beginning with a shared foundation in research ethics before turning to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and artificial intelligence.

The initiative is open to researchers, clinicians, regulatory affairs professionals, ethics experts and other stakeholders involved in rare disease research. The webinar series will focus in particular on two rapidly evolving areas: Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in biomedical research, with the aim of promoting research that is scientifically robust, ethically responsible and aligned with regulatory requirements.

The first webinar, “Situating Ethics in the Research Continuum,” will take place online on 24 July 2026. It will introduce a conceptual framework for understanding the role of ethics throughout the research continuum and will illustrate its practical application through a case study that will serve as the basis for subsequent sessions in the series. Topics will include identifying ethical issues across the different stages of research, as well as the relationship between ethical reflection, regulatory compliance and the translation of research into clinical practice.
