The Montecitorio’s hall has approved the unitary motion about the ‘medicine of gender’ requiring the Government will carry out concrete actions in the field of the gender medicine, including

– the progress of medical, scientific and pharmacological research;

– the introduction of the medicine of gender into training programs in universities of medicine and surgery and postgraduate schools;

– the creation of post-graduate master;

– the individuation of processes which could guarantee the realisation of departments dedicated to the medicine of gender in public health structures.

In Montecitorio’s hall the Minister of Health Balduzzi was also present. He expressed his consent on the motion before voting.

In addition, the Honourable Antonio Palagiano, Member of Parliament, who first presented a motion on this issue 2 years ago, showed his satisfaction for the approval of the motion and emphasize the need of concrete actions from the Government.

Then, the Honourable Paola Binetti, underlined that the application of  ‘gender medicine’ principles helps to better understand the different responses to diseases and pharmacological treatments between men and women, in line with the biological specificity and the different habits and lifestyle, showing acuter and more prolonged stress indicators in women.

As conclusive remarks, the Honourable Antonio Palagiano highlighted the importance of the achieved result, the promptness of Government actions, and the development of gender medicineat national level for safeguarding the health of women and every Italian citizen.
