CNRB is owner of a convention with the General  Direction Counterfeiting Fight (DGLC/UIBM) of the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE), aimed to actions in the biotechnological field, and in particular at carrying out surveys in the local reality, such as:

– the study of research and productive reality in the field of biotech;

– the promotion and incentive of biotechnological patent;

– the organisation of training activities.

The convention rises from the intent to integrate the industrial properties and the strategy of internationalization of enterprises and public centers of research with the aim of increasing the capacity of products, services and knowledge separated from tangible goods, of circulating in the market, enhancing the opportunities of economic/commercial and financial exchange at international level, providing tools of protection against counterfeiting in the meantime.

Therefore, the Ministry identified the CNRB as referent for deepen aspects and concerns about the biotechnological patent.

The plan of activity foresees also the establishment of an National Observatory for biotechnological patents.

The Gianni Benzi Foundation Onlus is involved in this activity in Puglia, and is organizing a regional forum, aimed at consolidate the networking of local realities that participated to the activities.

First of all, the Foundation in collaboration with CNRB, elaborated 2 types of questionnaires, as social research tool (one addressed to enterprises and the other to Research Centers and University Departments) for data detection, to collect information to be analised from the statistic point of view and to be easily generalised.

After the first phase, trining activities about patents in the biotech  will be organized.

In addition, the activity of the permanent regional forum will seek at consolidating the network of local realities that will participate to the activities promoted. The forum will carry out the following functions:

· to held a local database

· networking and update of data

· link with CNRB, regional policy bodies, productive and academic entities

· link with regional, National and European initiatives about patents

· Promotion of debates, training courses, Q&A sessions
