Professor Adriana Ceci, past President of Fondazione Gianni Benzi participated in the conference “Poland and Italy amid the crises and challenges in the healthcare sector – practice and experience”, held on 7th June 2022 in Rome.

The initiative, launched by the Polish Embassy in Rome and the Institute for the Development of Social Affairs in Poland, aimed to serve as a platform to present the initiatives and the instruments adopted in the framework of the scientific cooperation between Poland and Italy in support of innovation in the healthcare sector.

At the end of the conference, Professor Bohdan Maruszewski, chancellor of the Chapter of the medal “Friend of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute“ and Doctor Marek Migdal, director of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (IPCZD) in Warsaw and secretary of the chapter, awarded Professor Ceci the medal, in gratitude for the long-term cooperation and special merits in support of the Institute “Child Health Memorial Centre” in Warsaw, one of the most important paediatric hubs in Europe, in term of new methods and high-level standards for conducting paediatric research.

This event was the good occasion to highlight the crucial role of networking and of the actions performed in Europe to promote progress also in the paediatric research field.

With regards to this relevant topic, we were delighted to interview Dr Marek Migdal who is also member of our Scientific Committee and has been cooperating in several research and training activities carried out by Fondazione Gianni Benzi for many years.

The interview particularly focuses on the paediatric research results as well as on the role played by some international networking initiatives in this field, such as Small Medicines Advanced Research Training (SMART), the European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure (EPTRI), conect4children project (c4c), and their related impact on the research progress, especially in the Polish framework. Dr Migdal also underlined the challenges to be faced in the advancement of paediatric research and the future actions to be implemented to enhance this crucial cooperation.
