The Scientific Committee (SC) of Fondazione Gianni Benzi is composed of relevant experts in the field. It advices on scientific topics and collaborates with the Board of Directors in defining the programmes and activities of the Foundation. The SC has been funded by Vittorio Silano, full professor at the II Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata and President of the Panel EFSA on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) and boasts the participation of many prestigious experts, already collaborating in the FGB initiatives.
Fondazione Gianni Benzi is very pleased to welcome on board two new members who will give their illustrious contribution to the FGB activities: Vincenzo Salvatore and Enrico Bosone.
Vincenzo Salvatore is full professor of International Law, expert in the European legal process regulating all the aspects of the pharmaceutical industry.
“I am very pleased and honoured of this appointment as member of the Scientific Committee of Fondazione Gianni Benzi…” he said “…I had the pleasure and privilege to know and work with Professor Gianni Benzi during the period we spent together at the European Medicines Agency, where I had the chance to appreciate not only his professional skills, but also his human qualities. This appointment encourages me to nurture his teaching, promoting research and initiatives aimed to guarantee a better protection of the health of European citizens”.
Enrico Bosone is the president of SIARV (Società Italiana Attività Regolatorie, Accesso, Famacovigilanza) and Professional Regulatory Affairs and Patient Access consultant. He shared with us his gratitude for this appointment: “It is a great pleasure and honour to accept the appointment as member of the Scientific Committee of Fondazione Gianni Benzi. The memory and model of Professor Benzi, kept alive by Professor Ceci, represent a light that is still showing us the way to make the European Union more and more close to the patients and the wellbeing of the citizens. I will give my contribution along with the one of my colleagues from SIARV who still admire Professor Benzi’s activity”.
Moreover, other prestigious experts have confirmed their appointment: Annagrazia Altavilla from Espace Éthique PACA CORSE, lawyer with a relevant expertise in Sciences of Life/Ethics and Guido Cavalletti, doctor and full professor of Neurology at University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) where is the head of the Experimental Neurology Unit. Two more members who confirmed their involvement are Paola Baiardi, member of the Paediatric Committee (PDCO) and expert in drug post marketing surveillance studies, management of nationwide disease registers, orphan drugs and Marek Migdal, Paediatrician and Head of Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (Poland) and he is member of the PDCO.
The SC is also composed by Adriana Ceci, member of the board and former president of the Foundation and Viviana Giannuzzi, chair of the Research Department of the Foundation.
