The Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) has approved the project “Inherited NeuRoMetabolic Diseases INFORMATION NETWORK” (InNerMeD-I-network) of which the Gianni Benzi Foundation is a partner.

NeuroMetabolic Diseases (NMDs) are genetic metabolic disorders that impact on the brain from birth. Unfortunately, data on NMDs are not only few but also very badly disseminated outside the restricted arena of the experts.

InNerMeD-I-network therefore aims at the development of a network of information targeted on diagnosis and treatment of NMDs and based on the collection and exchange of information among all interested stakeholders in the NMDs field.

The project intends to increase current knowledge on NMDs, speed up timely and adequate diagnosis leading to an appropriate treatment before neurodegeneration will become irreversible,  favour biomedical research.

In support to the activities of the project, the Gianni Benzi Foundation will contribute particularly by giving the EU-Orphan contents, which includes data on designated orphan medicinal products in Europe and the United States.
