Viviana Giannuzzi, head of the Research Department at Fondazione Gianni Benzi and founding member of APS Bottega del Sorriso, participated as speaker in the Regulatory Science Network Netherlands (RSNN) Annual Workshop: Pharmaceutical legislation – Highway to innovation. The event was held on 6 June 2023 in Utrecht (the Netherlands).
The Regulatory Science Network Netherlands is a network of regulatory science experts from industry, academia, governmental bodies and the broader regulatory science field. Its mission is to advance an efficient and effective regulatory system for drug development, marketing authorization and access, and appropriate use of medicines by pooling expertise of all stakeholders, sharing and disseminating knowledge and setting the agenda for further research.
During the event, the stakeholders’ point of view on the innovation of the European regulatory system and the proposed modifications to the European pharmaceutical legislation was shared. Academia, industry, medicine authorities and patients discussed on how the changes would impact both at national and at European level and the possible risks to be considered.
Particularly, Viviana took a speech on the opportunities for patients that would come from the revision, the possible challenges to implement the proposed changes, as well as the expectations of such impactful revision of the whole pharmaceutical system.
